The problem
Field events live and die on who shows up, with which supplies, on which clock. The process lived in a Word document and a spreadsheet. It was tribal knowledge. It did not survive a busy season, an acquisition, or a single person being out.
What I did
- 01Designed a purpose-built engine instead of bending a generic HRIS: onboarding, credentialing, intelligent scheduling, time tracking, reimbursements, shift alerts, feedback, and live operational dashboards.
- 02Treated staffing as a product with the same release discipline as the member portal — QA, demo, production — because a wrong shift is a client event, not a ticket.
- 03Kept iterating toward a fourth wheel. Incremental improvements shipped; the unfinished parts stayed on the table instead of being papered over with another vendor.
Outcome
Nine hundred clinicians run through one system. Payroll and scheduling are no longer a weekend ritual. The same platform absorbed an acquisition (Health Maintenance Institute) in a single summer without a second staffing stack.
